There is some story or the other associated with every object on the mountains.

A touching story related to the red rhododendron flower

A girl lived in a village in Garhwal. She was the only child of her parents.
She was married in the foothills of a faraway mountain.
Her mother-in-law used to trouble her a lot.
Whenever she spoke of going to see her parents, her mother-in-law would engage her in various tasks.
Many years passed like this.
Here her parents died while waiting for their daughter.
When more days passed, the girl could not bear it.
She came to see her parents, but instead of her parents, she saw two trees in which red rhododendrons were blooming.
The people of the village told the girl how her parents  had died while she was waiting for her.
The girl cried a lot while hugging the tree. Since then, a tradition has started that whenever  the rhododendron blossoms in Garhwal, the girl comes to her mother's house.
