LAVENDER

कभी कभार पुरानी  बातें याद कर लेना अच्छा लगता है______!


मेरे दादा रेनियन आइलेंड में जीरानियम की बृहद खेती करते थे. जीरानियम एक खुशबूदार पौधा है जिससे परफ्यूम बनता है.

मैं गरमी की छुट्टी में दादा जी के पास चली जाती थी. चूँकि मैं south africa में ज्यादातर रहती थी और मुझे लेवेंदर की खुशबू बहुत अच्छी लगती थी.

मैं दादा से कहती थी कि ____"दादा लेवेंदर की खेती करो."
दादा हमेशा की तरह कहते  थे____"बिटिया, लेवेंदर बडा शुष्क होता है. इसकी खेती करना आसान नहीं."

____लेकिन जब मैं जिद्ध पर अड जाती तो कहते ___"ठीक है , अपनी शिक्षा पूरी कर ले , फिर तूही लेवेंदर की खेती कर लेना."

_____मैं खुश होकर अपनी पढाई में लग जाती.

मैं जब - जब दादा जी के पास आती थी लेवेंदर के पौधे बगीचे में लगा देती थी. दूसरे साल जब वापस आती  तो देखती कि पौधों से खुशबूदार फूल खिलकर पूरे वातावरण को महका दे रहे हैं. मैं उन फूलों की पंखुडियों से शरबत बनाती. दादा जी शरबत बहुत पसंद करते_____अपनी दोस्तों को भी पिलाते और मेरी खूब प्रशंसा करते.

  मैंने पक्का कर लिया था कि मैं लेवेंदर की खेती करूँगी और उसकी बंजारे सी खशबू सारी दुनिया में फैलाऊँगी.

मैं अपनी पढाई और सपनों में मगन थी कि मुझे खबर मिली कि La Fournaise से ज्वालामुखी रातों रात ऐसे फूटा कि लावा के रास्ते में दादा जी के जीरानियम के खेत आ गये____और शोक से दादा जी की मृत्यु हो गयी.

मेरे सारे सपने जैसे एकाएक तिरोहीत हो गये. मैं भूल ही गयी कि मैं लवेंदर की खेती करना चाहती थी.

बहुत सालों बाद जब मैं उस हादसे से उभरी तो ___तब तक मेरे जीवन के पृष्ठ बदल चुके थे.

आज भी मैं अपने जीवन के सुखद पलों को याद करती  हूँ
उस बंजारे पल को मन में  आत्मसात्   कर जी लेती हूँ

●Pigato: an acidic variety from Liguria that is vinified to pair with seafood.

●Ribolla Gialla: a Greek variety introduced by the Venetians that now makes its home in Friuli.
